Body on Me

"Body on Me" was originally made for former B2K member Lil' Fizz, and a version of it leaked in late 2006. When Lil' Fizz learned he would not be releasing an album, Akon decided to take the song back. It was then given to Nelly to use. The finished track, by American rapper Nelly featuring Akon and Ashanti, was produced by Akon and Giorgio Tuinfort. It was recorded for Ashanti's fourth album The Declaration and Nelly's fifth album Brass Knuckles, appearing on both.

The song went through several changes before release. There are four different versions in total, three belonging to Nelly and one to Ashanti. In Nelly's first version, only Ashanti's first verse is used while Nelly takes the second and third, and that cut runs 3:57. The second version, which became the album version, uses Nelly's first two verses plus a different third verse by Ashanti. A third version leaves Ashanti out entirely. On Ashanti's own version the arrangement flips, with her two verses and only Nelly's first verse, plus her ad-libs, and it runs shorter at 3:20. Akon sings the chorus on both versions.

The track was released as a digital download on June 10, 2008, and went for adds at rhythm crossover and urban radio stations on October 28, 2008. Although first intended as Ashanti's second single from The Declaration, it instead became the second single from Brass Knuckles. Benny Boom directed the music video, shot at the Red Rock Casino, Resort, & Spa in Las Vegas, which premiered on FNMTV on July 18, 2008.
