In late 2020, "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac found a second life when Nathan Apodaca posted a viral TikTok video of himself riding a skateboard to work while drinking Ocean Spray cran-raspberry juice, with the song playing underneath. The clip sparked a widespread resurgence for the track, which re-entered national music charts and appeared on the Spotify and Apple Music charts in several countries. In New Zealand it reached a new peak of number six and spent 71 consecutive weeks in the top 40.

The song had been written by Stevie Nicks in early 1976 at the Record Plant studio in Sausalito, California. Sitting in a black-and-red room said to belong to Sly Stone, she found a drum pattern on a cassette player and wrote it in about ten minutes. Her bandmates were unsure about the track at first, and Christine McVie called it boring when Nicks played a rough piano version. Lindsey Buckingham changed that by shaping three distinct sections out of identical chords.

Producer Ken Caillat built an eight-bar drum loop from Mick Fleetwood's drumming to create a hypnotic effect, something Caillat found amusing given the praise the rhythm section received for this particular recording. In the United States, the single sold over a million copies and became the band's only number one there, topping the Billboard Hot 100 on 18 June 1977 for one week.
