Cascada recorded "Everytime We Touch" at Studio Plazmatek Cologne in Cologne, Germany, with additional production taking place at Studio Plazmatek Erkrath in Erkrath. The two DJs behind the German dance trio, Manuel Reutier and Yann Pfeifer, produced the track under their stage names DJ Manian and Yanou, and they arranged it as well. For the chorus, they borrowed the refrain from Maggie Reilly's song of the same name, which earned writing credits for Reilly, Stuart MacKilliop, and Peter Risavy alongside Reutier and Pfeifer.

Lead singer Natalie Horler supplied the vocals, singing the first verse over minimal background pads before a jackhammer beat and pulsing synthesizer kicked in for the chorus. A techno-styled breakdown followed, built on a staccato keyboard line and a drum machine. The finished track ran for three minutes and sixteen seconds and carried the hallmarks of Eurodance, with kickdrums and synthesizers throughout.

Robbins Entertainment released the song in the United States on 16 August 2005 as a maxi single, and its success there prompted later international releases through labels including Zooland Records, All Around the World, and Universal Music Group. It reached number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum for sales exceeding one million copies. In Ireland, it knocked Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie" from the top of the chart before briefly losing the position to Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack", which it then reclaimed for three further weeks.

Everytime We Touch runs at 144 BPM, the tempo of dubstep and trap counted in half time, and hardstyle. In classical terms it sits in allegro territory. A bar of 4/4 lasts 1.67 seconds, and a quarter-note delay is 417 ms. It is in Ab major, Camelot 4B, which shares its notes with F minor and mixes cleanly with Db major and Eb major.
