Deric Angelettie and Sean "Puffy" Combs handled production on "Feel So Good" in 1997, building the track around a sample of Kool & the Gang's "Hollywood Swinging" and an interpolation of the Miami Sound Machine song "Bad Boy". Combs, running the Bad Boy label that released the record, contributed backing vocals, while R&B singer Kelly Price performed the chorus. The finished track arrived on October 14, 1997 through Arista and Bad Boy Records as Mase's debut single and the lead single for his debut album, Harlem World, and it also fronted the soundtrack to the Chris Tucker film Money Talks.
The single gave Mase his biggest commercial success as a lead artist. It reached number five on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and it topped the Hot Rap Singles chart. Sales moved quickly. The record was certified gold on November 12, 1997, barely a month after release, and later earned platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. A music video directed by Hype Williams was released for the week ending October 12, 1997, filmed at Fremont Street in Las Vegas. It featured Mase, Combs and Chris Tucker driving around the city in a Mercedes-Benz, with a group of female dancers appearing alongside them.
