The dishwasher in the video for "Nothin' but a Good Time" was played by the same actor who appeared in Mötley Crüe's "You're All I Need". He scrubs dishes while listening to Poison's 1987 cover of the Kiss hit "Rock and Roll All Nite", recorded for the Less than Zero soundtrack. His manager turns off the radio, says he is paid to wash dishes and not to listen to that rock 'n' roll, and threatens to fire him if he does not hurry up. After the manager leaves, the employee turns the radio back on and kicks open a door to a concert hall stage, where the band plays. When the song ends, the manager returns to dishes covered in tinsel. MTV played the video in heavy rotation in 1988.

Poison released the song on Enigma Records as the first single from Open Up and Say... Ahh!, with "Livin' for the Minute" and "Look But You Can't Touch" as B-sides. It reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 10 in Australia and number 35 in the UK. In 2009, the band performed it at the 63rd Tony Awards with the cast of Rock of Ages. As they headed backstage, a piece of scenery collapsed on Bret Michaels.
