"Picture of You" won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Original Song for a Film or Broadcast at the 1998 ceremony, a prize earned through its role as the main theme for Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie. Rowan Atkinson appeared as his film character with Boyzone on both the single cover and in the music video, tying the record closely to the comedy. The song later turned up again in the 2000 Nickelodeon movie Snow Day, where it featured on the soundtrack.
The Irish boy band released the single in July 1997 through Polydor Records, making it the first release from their third studio album, Where We Belong, which followed in 1998. Ronan Keating wrote the track with Eliot Kennedy and the producers Absolute. It peaked at No. 2 in both Ireland and the United Kingdom.
The song's streaming numbers have grown steadily in the decades since release. As of February 2025, it was Boyzone's most-streamed single in the UK, with 36 million streams to its name.
