Gary Numan's music supplied the raw material for "Where's Your Head At", the 2001 single by the English electronic duo Basement Jaxx. The track borrowed samples from two Numan songs, "M.E." and "This Wreckage", and appeared as the third single from the duo's second album, Rooty, released on 19 November 2001. It reached number 9 in both Canada and the United Kingdom, and number 16 in Australia. In the United States it climbed to number 39 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, the duo's only single to chart on an American non-dance chart.
The music video, directed by Traktor, was set in a mental hospital in Prague, described by its protagonist as "the armpit of nowhere". British actor Damian Samuels played a working class man who visits a scientist, played by Czech actor Petr Janiš, who claims to have "the latest thing in pop music". The demonstration involves three monkeys playing instruments, though their faces turn out to be human, two of them belonging to Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe. The monkeys wreck the equipment and corner the visitor, who discovers that musicians' brains are being transferred into monkeys and that he is the next intended victim. He escapes down a laundry chute.
The video won Best Electronica Video and Best Directorial Debut at the 11th Annual Music Video Production Awards, and Pitchfork placed it at number 24 in its list of the top 50 music videos of the 2000s. In 2023, 100 Gecs released a remix titled "where's my head at _".
