Window Seat

James Poyser co-produced "Window Seat" and played keyboards on it, and his contribution drew praise from critics when the single arrived. The song, by Erykah Badu, was released as the lead single from her album New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) in 2010, produced by Badu and Poyser. It was a low-tempo ballad whose lyrics dealt with escapism and longing for a lover. Badu shared a downloadable link to the track on her Twitter account, and it reached the iTunes Store on February 9, 2010. On the US Billboard Hot 100 it debuted at number 95, and it eventually peaked at number 16 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart after five weeks there.

On March 13, 2010, Badu filmed an impromptu video for the song in the Dealey Plaza historic district of Dallas, Texas. Shot guerrilla style with no crew, one take and no closed set, it showed her walking the streets and slowly stripping to the nude before being shot by an unseen assassin. She said she was inspired by Matt and Kim's video for "Lessons Learned", in which the duo stripped naked in Times Square. Dealey Plaza was known as the site of President John F. Kennedy's assassination, and Badu intended the scene to represent the character assassination a person faces after revealing themselves completely. After she collapsed, blue blood spilled out to form the word "groupthink".

The video premiered on March 27, 2010 and quickly stirred controversy. Badu was charged with disorderly conduct on April 2, a class C misdemeanor carrying a $500 fine, after a witness came forward. She said the video foreshadowed the reaction, calling it a prediction of what was happening.
