I Gotta Feeling

David Guetta and Frédéric Riesterer produced the track, working alongside the four members of the Black Eyed Peas, who all received writing credits as William Adams, Allan Pineda, Jaime Gomez, and Stacy Ferguson. Adams added synthesizer work to the recording, which took place at Square Prod in Paris and Metropolis Studios in London. Interscope Records released "I Gotta Feeling" on June 15, 2009, as the second single from the group's fifth album, The E.N.D., and serviced it to American radio a week later. According to Jimmy Iovine of Interscope Geffen A&M, the melody drew on U2's "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight"; will.i.am had spent two weeks working on remixes of that song before coming back and writing this one, and the chords were, in Iovine's words, U2 chords one hundred percent.

The song debuted at number two on the Billboard Hot 100, held back only by the group's own previous single "Boom Boom Pow", which placed the Black Eyed Peas among the eleven artists who have occupied the chart's top two positions simultaneously. It then climbed to number one and stayed there for fourteen consecutive weeks, the longest run at the top of any 2009 single. Together the two singles gave the group 26 straight weeks at number one. In Canada it spent sixteen weeks at the summit of the Canadian Hot 100, a record for that chart.

The song topped charts in more than 20 countries and was nominated for Record of the Year at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, winning Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. In March 2011 it became the first song in digital history to pass seven million US downloads, and by June 2019 that figure had climbed past nine million, making it the highest-selling digital non-charity single in the country.
