MTV rejected the first cut of the video for "Girls, Girls, Girls". Director Wayne Isham had purposely sent it to the network. It featured topless dancers. A more sanitized version replaced it. Mötley Crüe filmed it on the night of April 13, 1987. They had wanted to use The Body Shop. That club is all-nude and serves no alcohol. They shot at The Seventh Veil instead. By the time they finished, none of the band members were functioning properly. They rode their motorcycles to Isham's nearby studio to film inserts, stopping at a Mexican restaurant for shooters and taquitos on the way.
The single came out on May 13, 1987, as the first release from the album of the same name. It pays tribute to strippers and name-checks clubs from the Tropicana on the Sunset Strip to the Marble Arch in Vancouver, the Dollhouse in Fort Lauderdale, Tattletales in Atlanta and the Crazy Horse in Paris.
The track was pre-produced and then recorded at different studios over several weeks, starting with the drum parts, then bass and guitar, and finally vocals.
Girls, Girls, Girls runs at 140 BPM, the tempo of dubstep and trap counted in half time, and hardstyle. In classical terms it sits in allegro territory. A bar of 4/4 lasts 1.71 seconds, and a quarter-note delay is 429 ms. It is in G major, Camelot 9B, which shares its notes with E minor and mixes cleanly with C major and D major.
