Josh Homme wrote "Make It wit Chu" with Alain Johannes and Dean Ween of Ween, and it began life outside Queens of the Stone Age. In 2003 it appeared on The Desert Sessions Volumes 9 & 10 as "I Wanna Make It wit Chu", with PJ Harvey on backing vocals. The band later included a version on the live DVD Over the Years and Through the Woods before rerecording it for their fifth studio album, Era Vulgaris.
It came out in October 2007 as that album's third single. The B-sides were covers: "White Wedding" by Billy Idol and "Needles in the Camel's Eye" by Brian Eno. At the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, Homme and Troy Van Leeuwen played it in a suite at The Palms Casino Hotel with Cee Lo Green on vocals and Dave Grohl on drums.
Rio Hackford directed the video, shot in Joshua Tree. It opens with Homme driving to Rancho De La Luna, where the Desert Sessions are recorded, and the band setting up to play for a series of couples making out and talking. The song appeared later in Guitar Hero 5, the documentary Warren Miller's Playground and the TV show Blindspot.
